Brahmamuhurtha (ब्रह्ममुहूर्त)

ब्रह्ममुहूर्ते उत्तिष्ठेत स्वस्थो रक्षार्थम आयुषः।

Brahmamuhurtha (ब्रह्ममुहूर्त) is the last quarter of the night or 1.5 hrs before sun rise; between 3:30 a.m. to 5:30.

Waking in Brahmamuhurtha (ब्रह्ममुहूर्त) helps to maintain Health. Our mythological books mention that this time offers the possibility to become the “Brahm” or creator. Our elders always advise us to wake up early in morning. Remember our School days- ‘Early to bed, Early to rise; makes you healthy, wealthy and wise!”


So why it is so important to get up early?


“पिंडी ते ब्रह्माण्डी” this law states that-

“The changes in Nature reflect certain physiological changes in the human system also.” There is a calm and pleasant flow of wind in atmosphere. वात is predominant in Nature as well as our body. This aids natural outflow of excretory substances from the body. Thus we feel fresh throughout the day.

Also there is a natural production of melatonin, which is a secretion of the pineal gland. Melatonin is seen as a mood stabilizer.At this time, we should sit up and do our Pranayam, Dharana, Dhyana- spiritual processes so that we will get the maximum benefits.

Thus, waking in Brahmamuhurtha (ब्रह्ममुहूर्त) helps to maintain our body fit and mind fresh, thereby maintaining our health. If not so early, at least try to wake up by 6 to 7 am to achieve  maximum health benefits.

That’s the first step of our दिनचर्या  aka Daily regime . Do follow it and stay Healthy.
